A question I get asked often is whether or not eyelash extensions damage, or pull out your natural lashes. They answer is NO, but only if they are applied properly!
What does this mean?
In order for lashes to not be damaged by eyelash extensions, they must be able to grow freely. Your natural lashes grow & shed just like the hair on your head. If there is restriction they will become damaged, pull /break off other lashes, and possibly lead to infection & irritation. Proper eyelash extensions much be 100% separated (only 1 natural lash per extension) The lash must not be too heavy or too long for your natural lashes to hold, and should not be applied too close to the lash line. This takes time, but if you are spending good money on your lashes then believe me you want them done right, and you want someone who wont rush through it.
Eyelash extensions have received a bad rep lately, but this is because of poorly trained lash artists who cut corners. Improper lash sets are applied to more than one natural lash & are not fully separated. Too much glue can make this even worse!
Good lash artists are hard to find, so please do your research and look at more than just pictures. A beautiful set of lashes, does not always mean they are a talented lash artist. I have fixed many damaged lash sets from local lash artists that do beautiful work. When looking for a lash artist, don't be afraid to ask questions! Do they fully separate the lashes? Do they have different lengths and sizes? How long have they been doing lashes? Does their glue contain formaldehyde? how long does the process take?
If they say it takes less than an hour I would keep looking! If a stylist told me they could cut my hair in just 10 minutes I would not let them touch my hair! beautiful hair takes time & so do lashes! <3
I hope this information helps :)

Sensitive eyebrows?
Many people think they are allergic to wax when in fact they are allergic to the way the procedure was done. Many waxers today don't prep the skin properly before waxing which can cause a reaction on the outer layer of the skin.
When wax comes in contact with skin it exfoliates some of the dead skin cells off the surface. Some of us are more sensitive than others (myself included) which means the wax can actually exfoliate skin cells that aren't ready to be shed. This can cause similar to a sunburn reaction & it's not fun! :(
This can easily be prevented by cleaninsing the area of makeup & oils then prepping the skin with a barrier like baby powder. This barrier will help prevent the wax from completely coming in contact with the skin, but still allow it to grab on the the hairs. Aloe vera can be used afterwards to sooth the skin & reduce inflammation. If you have sensitive skin I recommend that you find a waxer who uses these methods, sore eyebrows are no fun!
Keep in mind some people do have real allergies to wax. Sometimes it's hard to tell if you had a reaction to the wax or the procedure itself, so if you suspect you are in fact allergic it may be best to stay away from waxing all together. There are other alternatives such as eyebrow threading, sugaring, and even tweezing :)
If you are in the Little Rock area I'd love to shape those brows up. Come see me! 221-1755

Homemade eye makeup remover
One of the things I always tell my clients is to please be careful what you use on your lash extensions. Eye makeup removers or cleansers that contain oils, glycol, or alcohol can weaken the glue bond & cause your extensions to fall off prematurely. For this reason it is important to check the ingredients of what you plan to use. I have a personal favorite that I use to clean lashes & I'll share it with you!
Homemade lash bath:
get a small bottle or foam dispenser.
Fill up with 1/3 baby shampoo
2/3 water & about 1/4 tsp baking soda to keep it fresh... shake it up & bam! you have a gentle eye makeup remover/lash cleanser that wont harm your extensions :)
Try it & let me know what you think! Also be sure & like my new facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/littlerocklashartist

Russian volume
What are Volume Lashes?
2D-6D lashes or Volume lashes are thicker and fuller with a more light weight feathery feel than traditional eyelash extensions. The technique started in Russia and has since made its way to the US... this is a whole new ball game for our lash world ;)
How do Russian volume lashes differ from Individual eyelash extensions?
Individual eyelash extensions are attached to your natural lashes one by one. (One lash per natural lash) The Volume technique allows 2-6 eyelash extensions to be attached to 1 natural lash.
Will this damage my lashes? No, The eyelash extensions used for the Volume technique are much thinner in diameter, so very little weight is added to your lashes including the adhesive. Here are some Russian volume sets I have worked on. I do not have this added to my service menu just yet, but stay tuned its comming <3

A few pictures of my work as a lash artist. All lashes are applied one by one. I am very particular about this and do not allow other lashes to get glued together. Results last up to 6 weeks, but fills are recommended every 2-3 weeks to replace the one's that have shed due to the natural lifespan of your natural lashes. Thanks for looking! Introduction
Welcome to my blog! This is a place where I will share pictures of my work, Health and beauty tips, and current specials.
I am a lash artist and wax specialist at SWaNK Hair Studio in West Little Rock, AR with 4 years of experience. Making people look and feel beautiful is my passion. I am currently perfecting the art of Russion volume lashes. This is a new technique that was first developed in Russia and has just recently come to the US. With volume lashes you are able to place up to 6 ultra fine lashes per natural lash vs the traditional one lash per lash. Because the lashes are much finer and lighter than traditional lashes it will not be too heavy, and does not cause damage to your lashes when applied correctly It takes skill and patience to learn this technique and should only be attempted by an advanced eyelash extension artist. This is an amazing new service for those who don't have enough natural lashes to get voluminous lashes with a traditional set. Stay tuned for pricing.
